From silver screens to glossy pages — a yacht that tells a story.

LIFE OF PAT EVANS

I AM WOMAN

Horizon proudly features in an episode of the acclaimed documentary series I Am Woman, produced by Lauren Groenewald and hosted by Sandra Prinsloo. The episode follows the extraordinary life of Pat Evans — adventurer, aviator, sailor, and trailblazing entrepreneur.

As one of South Africa’s first female commercial pilots, Pat flew Tiger Moths across the continent, restored her own yacht, and built a one-woman business that spans thousands of kilometres between South Africa and Mozambique. But her greatest journey wasn’t just across skies or seas — it was the personal odyssey of raising three daughters as a single mother while fearlessly charting her own course.

Filmed aboard Horizon, the episode captures Pat’s deep connection to the ocean and the vessels that carried her through life’s boldest leaps of faith. Against the backdrop of teak decks and Cape waters, Horizon becomes more than a setting — she’s a symbol of resilience, freedom, and the spirit of adventure.

ELVIS PRESLEY

GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!

Before she became a symbol of adventure and restoration, the yacht made it's silver screen debut in the 1962 musical comedy Girls! Girls! Girls!, starring Elvis Presley as Ross Carpenter — a penniless Hawaiian fisherman with a passion for the sea and dreams of owning his own boat.

Directed by Norman Taurog and shot on location in Hawaii, the film features her among the fleet of vessels that framed Presley’s nautical escapades. With its classic lines and timeless charm, the yacht added authenticity to the film’s breezy maritime setting, echoing the spirit of freedom and romance that defined the era.

Though Elvis sang of heartbreak and high tides, she stood quietly in the background — a real-life vessel that would later sail far beyond the screen, into the hands of adventurers like Pat Evans. From Hollywood to the Cape, her story continues to unfold.

TIME MAGAZINE

ACURA — LUXURY AND PERFORMANCE

In 1999, the yacht made a quiet yet striking appearance in a national Acura advertisement featured in Time magazine. Titled “Luxury and performance come together like never before”, the ad showcased Acura’s sleek automotive design while subtly placing the yacht in the background — a visual cue to the lifestyle of its aspirational clientele.

With her classic teak cabin and graceful lines, she embodied the same values the ad sought to evoke: timeless craftsmanship, understated elegance, and the freedom of the open road — or in this case, the open sea. Her presence added depth and sophistication to the campaign, aligning the brand with a life of adventure, refinement, and quiet confidence.

From Hollywood films to glossy magazine spreads, she continues to inspire — not just as a yacht, but as a symbol of enduring style.
